Ron Leibman is best known as a Tony award-winner in the Broadway classic, "Angels in America," and for the films Norma Rae (1979), and Zorro, The Gay Blade (1982). He was Jennifer Aniston's father on Friends (1996–2004). In 1992, he also played Darryl Heyward in Murder, She Wrote's "Incident in Lot # 7" (the "Psycho house" episode).
Here is Ron's (I'm told) quite good (and boozy, hence I assume the name) Hoo-Ha Chicken recipe. It was famously tested by my friend Jenny Hammerton and her main squeeze, Mr. Rathbone, HERE, and looks just like this!
Here's Ron in Murder, She Wrote's "Incident in Lot 7." Ron was married to Linda Lavin in the 1970's and this recipe appears to have come from her kitchen as well.
Ron Leibman's (Linda Lavin's!)
HOO-HA CHICKEN
Serves 2-3
Broiler-fryer chicken, cut into 8 pieces
1 cup Rose's lime juice
½ tsp. grated lime rind
1 cup dry vermouth
3 cloves garlic, crushed
salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper to taste
Combine lime Juice, lime rind, vermouth, garlic, salt and pepper for marinade. Marinate chicken in it for several hours or overnight, turning often. Grill over charcoal, or oven-fry by placing chicken pieces in shallow baking dish lined with aluminum foil and bake in preheated 350° F. oven 35 minutes, or until tender. Baste several times while chicken is baking.
Serve with huge tossed salad made with as many garden fresh vegetables as you can find. Make a dressing with freshly-squeezed lime, cracked pepper and salt.
