And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Ho, ho, ho, this one is a website recipe exclusive! It's so special you won't find it in my new cookbook, The Infinite Feast! 🌟 🎅🏽 🎄

Christmas Morning French Toast

Makes 4 servings

Recipe can be doubled or tripled as needed

1 loaf French brioche bread, or other egg bread, in 1-inch slices, left out overnight

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups whole milk

6 large eggs

3 tablespoons canola oil

3 tablespoons butter

Butter and maple syrup for serving

Confectioners' sugar, sliced strawberries and blueberries for garnish

Heat oven to 225°F.

In a 9 by13-inch baking dish, whisk together flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla and salt. In another bowl, whisk together milk and eggs. Add wet to dry ingredients, combine thoroughly.

Soak bread slices for 2 minutes total, 1 minute each side.

In large skillet heat one tablespoon each butter and oil over medium-high heat. Cook bread slices till golden brown both sides. Repeat with all slices, heating more oil and butter and adding more milk to soaking mixture as necessary. Keep French Toast warm in heated oven as you work so all can be served hot.

Serve with softened butter and syrup, garnished with a sprinkling of confectioners' sugar, fresh strawberries and/or blueberries.
